El Borge, the raisin-producing village par excellence, celebrates "Raisin Day" every year,

Raisin Day (El Borge)

20 September 2026

El Borge, known as the ‘Villa de la Pasa’, holds one of the Axarquía’s most iconic festivals every year in honour of this product, which has been declared Important World Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) and a symbol of the municipality’s agricultural heritage. El Borge, the raisin-producing village par excellence with a population of just over a thousand, organises this festival in honour of the Malaga-designated-origin raisin.

Throughout the day, the streets fill with locals and visitors who enjoy tasting traditional dishes, local wine and the town’s famous raisins.

The programme includes demonstrations of the traditional raisin-making process, from the grape harvest and drying on the raisin racks to the sorting, chopping, packaging and treading of the Muscat grapes. The festival is rounded off with folk performances, cultural activities and a festive atmosphere that showcases the history, cuisine and traditions of El Borge.

Declared an Event of Tourist Interest by the Málaga Provincial Council.
